You, mighty man of valor..

Often the people of Israel did evil in the sight of God and God had to deliver them into the hands of their enemies.  When they cried out to God for help, He sent a leader to deliver them from their enemies. Such a young leader was Gideon, the son of Joash belonging to the clan of Manasseh. God had an eternal plan for Gideon to rescue the Israelites from Midianites.

                                              Mighty

Israelites were treated very harshly and one day an angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon under a tree and said,
"The Lord is with you, you mighty man of valor" [Judges 6:12].

Even though the Lord knew Gideon's weakness and that he had little strength, He called Gideon as  a 'Mighty man of valor'.

Dear brothers and sisters, God knows your weaknesses and which are mighty [I Cor 1:27].   God chooses weak and foolish people who are despised by the world and gives them strength to accomplish his divine master plan !

Lets see why God chose Gideon for His purpose...

[1]. HE WAS HUMBLE BEFORE GOD:
-When God told Gideon that he was chosen to save Israel from the hand of the Midianites, he didn't become proud. Rather he was humble in saying that he was least in his father's house [Judges 6:15].
Paul says in Ephesians 3:8,
"To me who am less than the least of all the saints, the grace was given".
God gives His grace to the humble. "So humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time" [I Peter 5:6]

[2]. ADMIT YOUR WEAKNESSES:
              - Don't boast about your past victories and don't hide your failures before God, the Almighty. Admit your physical weakness and ask God to strengthen you with His might and power daily. Rely not on your understanding. Trust Him. Never say, "I can do it with my own  strength". Instead depend on His strength in each and every work you do. "Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength" [ Isaiah 40:31]

[3]. SUBMIT YOURSELVES COMPLETELY TO HIM:
              - Gideon was told by God with the strength he had to save the Israel. However Gideon obliged him to God's will and asked Him to show him a sign to confirm that God will strengthen him and God did it. "Present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God" [Rom 12:1]. Depend on His strength alone. Do not give an inch for your flesh to overcome, so that His supreme plan will be fulfilled in you and through you. A potter uses the clay according to his own desire. In the same way He is our divine potter. God uses those vessels which are in His hands, submissive to His will, doing whatever He asks them to do.

[4]. BE FILLED WITH HIS POWER EVERYDAY:
               - Ephesians 6:10 says "Be strong in the Lord and in the the power of His might". We need his power to be successful. That's why we need the Holy Spirit. Arise in the dawn, to meet your Father in Heaven, meditate on His holy word. Get his power to accomplish the mission. Charge yourself with His mighty power, through prayer. Be filled with God's love, spirit and fire. Obviously, this is not a one-day experience.

[5]. OBEY HIS WORD WITH TREMBLING FEAR:
             - Do whatever the Lord tells you to do without asking any reasons. Gideon obeyed His voice and made the right choice to destroy all the idols. He did fear any man.
"If God be for us who or what can be against us?"
Therefore God gave victory over the Midianites.
Dear young friend, if you want to get victory over sin, temptation, Satan and evil doers obey Him and walk with Him all the time. Then the Spirit of the Living God will help you !

[6]. NEITHER FRET, NOR GET DISCOURAGED:
"Fear not for I am with you" [Isaiah 41:10]
                - if you have fear of any man, it will be a snare for you. People who fear God need not fear man for mean things. If so, your faith is considerably small. You may think, that Gideon feared, hence he destroyed the altar during night. It was not the reason. However he wanted to do things secretly for the Lord.
Similarly do things secretly (eg., personal prayer) and do those things publicly which ion. has to be done for the manifestation and glory of the righteous King, Jesus.

[7]. BLOW YOUR TRUMPETS:
"Then whoever hears hears the sound of the trumpet and does not take warning, if the sword comes and takes him away, his blood shall be on his own head" [Ezekiel 32:4]
           - We as leaders are called to be watchmen for our nation. Pray for the world, for the people who are in darkness, so that they come into the light. Tell your friends about their evil ways and wrong beliefs. Warn them about eternal condemnation [hell fire]. Pray for them. God will transform them.
Blow your trumpets like this and the hand of the Almighty will be with you, so as it was with Gideon to give him victory.
